Twist & shake: Hot buttered rum
MAKES 1
- 1 heaped tsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground ginger
- ¼ tsp allspice
- 2 drops of vanilla essence
- 40ml golden/dark rum
- boiling water
1 Put the butter, sugar, spices and vanilla essence in a glass mug and stir to combine.
2 Add the golden/dark rum and mix again before topping up the mug with boiling water and stirring carefully.
3 If you need to make a batch of these drinks, you can simply multiply the ingredients by how many serves you’re making. So for 10 serves, times everything by 10 then mix all the butter, sugar, spices and vanilla.
4 For each serve, drop a tablespoon of the spiced butter mixture into the mug, then hit it up with the rum and boiling water as per the method above.
